  1. Microsoft is another step away from it's money-printing all-consuming behavior (i think so). Here is what you get in 2015. Windows 10, free to update: Windows 10 will be a free update, for users running Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 on PCs or notebooks, and for Windows Phone 8.1 users on mobile. It's Spartaaaaaa...n: A new browser is coming, called Spartan with reading and PDF markup mode built-in. Windows 10 mobile ecosystem: Windows 10 mobile now syncs with desktop, tablet and many other devices. Free Office Suite for Wondows mobile: I hoped for something better ! .... and Office 2016 will be released in 2015. Microsoft HoloLens? Hmm, now this is new. This is an 'Augmented Reality' device extending Windows 10. Teckcrunch

  2. Just saw the news after the holiday. Curiosity found firm clue that Mars may harbor life somewhere under its shell. Scientists confirmed that the rover found sources of methane coming our from the underground. The scientists are not sure about the source, but 95 percent of methane (CH4) here in Earth is produced by various lifeforms. The discovery was reported at the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting. “It is one of the few hypotheses that we can propose that we must consider as we go forward,” said John P. Grotzinger, the mission’s project scientist. The scientists also reported that for the first time, they had confirmed the presence of carbon-based organic molecules in a rock sample. The so-called organics are not direct signs of life, past or present, but they lend weight to the possibility that Mars had the ingredients required for life, and may even still have them. 3. The American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is pleased to announce the release of the new Positional Accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data. The new ASPRS accuracy standards fill a critical need for map users and map makers alike. For centuries, map scale and contour interval have been used as an indication of map accuracy. Users want to know how accurately they can measure different things on a map, and map makers want to know how accurate maps need to be in order to satisfy user requirements. Those contracting for new maps depend on some form of map accuracy standard to evaluate the tradeoff between the accuracy required vs. how much time and expense are justified in achieving it, and then to describe the accuracy of the result in a uniform way that is reliable, defensible, and repeatable. The new ASPRS standards address recent innovations in digital imaging and non-imaging sensors, airborne GPS, inertial measurement units (IMU) and aerial triangulation (AT) technologies. Unlike prior standards, the new standards are independent of scale and contour interval, they address higher levels of accuracies achievable by the latest technologies (e.g. unmanned aerial systems and lidar mobile mapping systems), and they provide enough flexibility to be applicable to future technologies as they are developed. Finally, the new standards provide cross references to older standards, as well as detailed guidance for a wide range of potential applications. No prior U.S. accuracy standard comprehensively addresses the current state of mapping technology, which is why the new ASPRS standards were developed. The National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS), developed in 1947, are still used because they are simple, but there is no scientific correlation between those standards and current mapping methodologies. The ASPRS 1990 Standards were an improvement over NMAS; however, they did not do well in representing the capabilities of Lidar, orthoimagery, digital mapping cameras or other current technologies in wide-spread use today. The National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) is a reporting standard that references the old ASPRS 1990 standards and is cross-referenced in the new ASPRS standards. NSSDA provides no accuracy thresholds and does not by itself provide any new or updated guidance on how to select or specify an appropriate accuracy for intended applications. 5. yep, I have some of Lynda tutorial product and I have enjoy it , latest news, they aquired by LinkedIn, good move for LinkedIn this is the news ; LinkedIn has always been helpful if you're seeking a job, but now it can train you for one too, thanks to a $1.5 billion deal to acquire Lynda.com. That site offers nearly 3,500 courses by subscription on subjects ranging from web design to leadership body language, all taught by industry experts. Citing the obvious synergy between the companies, LinkedIn said that the deal would help job-seekers "know what skills are need for available jobs in a desired city... and then be prompted to take the relevant and accredited courses to acquire this skill." source : http://www.engadget.com/2015/04/09/linkedin-acquires-lynda-com/

  7. Dear All, i hope you all are fine. I am doing my Msc thesis on Urban Heat island modeling. One part of the model i have a calculation regarding LST calculation from Landsat ETM image. I am using mono-window technique. Manually i calculated LST for one pixel and its ok. But the problem is working in Erdas imagine model maker. My algorithm is showing error. My model is as follows in erdas model maker. { -67.355351 ( 1-$n4_memory - $n6_memory ) + ( 0.458606 ( 1 - $n4_memory - $n6_memory ) + $n4_memory + $n6_memory ) * ( $n8_br_t_k ) - ($n6_memory) * 310.46} / ($n4_memory) here , LST = { a (1-C-D) + (b (1-C-D)+C+D) Tb - D Ta} / C where, a = -67.355351 b = 0.458606 C= Ei * ti (Ei is emissivity and ti is transmissivity) D= (1-ti) [1+(1-Ei)*ti] Ta is mean atmospheric temp, 310.46 k (calculated) but this model is giving error, can anyone help me ? regards Muqit Zoarder

  8. PHP 7, a major update to the server-side scripting language due next year, will offer performance improvements and more capabilities, along with deprecation of some existing features. The release will be anchored by performance enhancements derived from the phpng branch of the PHP tree. Officials from PHP tools vendor Zend Technologies discussed the progress of phpng and PHP 7 at the company’s ZendCon conference in Silicon Valley this week. “[The upgrade is] really focused on helping real-world applications perform significantly faster and plus, we’re going to have additional improvements in PHP,” said Zend CEO Andi Gutmans, who has been involved in the ongoing development of PHP. Recent versions of PHP have been part of the 5.x release series, but there will be no PHP 6. “We’re going to skip [version] 6 because years ago, we had plans for a 6 but those plans were very different from what we’re doing now,” Gutmans said. Going right to version 7 avoids confusion. The phpng improvements in version 7 have been focused on areas such as hash tables and memory allocation. A chart on the state of phpng as of this month, presented at the conference, had the technology producing a 35 percent speedup on synthetic tests; 20 to 70 percent performance improvements on real applications, including a 60 percent improvement on WordPress home pages, and better memory consumption for most useful server APIs. The technology supports most PHP extensions bundled into the PHP source distribution and provides speed comparable to the HHVM 3.3.0 open source virtual machine. A PHP developer at the conference expressed optimism about phpng. “Obviously, speed is the most important thing to a Web app or any app in general,” said developer Pete Nystrom, vice president of engineering and co-founder at Classy.org, an online fundraising platform. While recognizing it would be a while before the technology was available in tools, Nystrom understands what's at stake. “Obviously, going into the core and speeding up all these functions that are core to PHP is a massive undertaking and something that’s going to be great for all of us.” Also on tap for PHP is elimination of some existing features. “We’re going to deprecate some old functionality that we think is not that interesting anymore,” Gutmans said. Ext/ereg and ext.mysql are on the deprecation list and have both been replaced by other extensions. Other deprecated features include # style comments in ini files and string category names in setlocale(). source : http://www.infoworld.com/article/2841561/php/php-7-moves-full-speed-ahead.html

  11. Normally, WAMP stack like XAMPP, WAMP Server and such software only suitable for developing environment, all default setting that very dangerous for normal live sites is on, such as blank password or default password. But EasyPHP make a wamp stack that suitable for personal live sites, if you want to make a web server and live sites for personal use and ready made out of the box software, simple, for windows this software is still in beta, but I think this is the great idea for people who love websites and dont have many times to maintenance and setup web and all requirement and integrate all module. Description EasyPHP Webserver turns your computer into an ready-to-use personal web hosting server. You can host whatever you want directly on your computer and share it with everyone on internet like any website module : Applications: - Apache 2.4.10 - MySQL 5.6.19 - PHP 5.4.31 - PhpMyAdmin 3.5.5 - MailServer (plugin) - FTP Server (plugin) - ...etc etc download page : http://www.easyphp.org/easyphp-webserver.php remember this is still BETA stage , wait for some times
