GIS Career with a BBA

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I just graduated from a four year university with a BBA in Management (4.0 gpa) and I am 22 years old.  I have always been very interested in maps and data since a young age.  I knew I wanted to do GIS last year but I figured I might as well finish my BBA since I was so far in.

My question is there any chance I could land a GIS job with a company without having a specific degree in that field?  I have been working full time at a State Police agency doing administrative work for the last 3.5 years, so I have some work experience as well.

I am already signed up to take GIS classes at my local community college this fall.  This will allow my to get a GIS certificate.  But I really do not want to go back for another Bachelor's degree if I do not need to.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
