Goodbye McAfee, Welcome Intel Security

Intel , which bought McAfee in 2010, will rebrand its subsidiary as Intel Security. But Intel will keep the logo we all know well -- that red shield that lives on many of our computers' toolbars.

The announcement was made Monday by Intel CEO Brian Krzanich at the Computer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The software will remain unchanged except for changing the name from McAfee Security to Intel Security. The iconic red McAfee shield will remain, for now, and some components of the mobile versions of the software will be free to use on iOS and Android devices. The rebranding is expected to take up to a year to complete.
