Convert a.txt file into a KMZ/KML file

Hi crai0cata,

Maybe you already knew that, but anyway; other readers might not.

KML is an XML-based data type. KMZ is actually a zip file that contains a like-named KML file and possibly some other files like for instance, pictures. In that case, a relative link to these pictures is embedded in the KML file.

So what you can do is: convert the TXT file to XML format, change the extension from .xml to .kml (it's possible to rename a kml file to a xml file and then open it in Excel), and then finally zip that KML and change the extension to KMZ.

I don't know whether this is possible or not, but you can try.

The file size of your KMZ file is dependent on the compressing algorithm. I don't know which one is used by Global Mapper.
