Toposheet problem:

Dear all,

i have one toposheet which ends with NAME_GEO.tif which is not opening in arcmap/ERDAS showing error [ "TIFFReadDirectory : Cannot handle different values per sample

for "MaxSampleValue" "] - what is the error.  How it can be used.

And i don't think it is even geotiff format data.

Have you save it by a Third Party software? You can use photoshop to save it in in *.tif format with no compression.

hem, strange, its seems that variable MaxSampleValue is different in each canal, library cannot handle such data, maybe special compressed tiff file

try using Import file in ERDAS, acted like those is raw file, maybe help (I use ENVI in most of my work, it have import function to convert raw data into envi known format data)

may I know the source of those file ?

or , you can use open source RS Software, like GRASS to open it, sometimes their raster library are capable to open strange format

  Source of the data am not aware as it has given by investigator to me directly for analysis.  And even in ERDAS i tried but in vain.

@souvik.gis & @3dbu:  Thanks a lot. In photoshop that worked. I opened that raster file and saved as .tiff format ( check box.  NONE for image compression; Byte order: IBM PC and save image pyramid.
