  1. Please read new detailed article about OpenWebGIS on Opensource.com: OpenWebGIS: An open source geographic information system
  2. Hello! You can use the OpenWebGIS now as Android app. Please example about it in article: "Creating WiFi map and monitoring access points based on geographic information system (OpenWebGIS)"
  3. When you create your maps with the help of online services, sometimes you surely want not only to see your data on the map, but also to make at least some mathematical analysis. For example, to create a chart reflecting the change in the data and to estimate how much your data is correlated in some attributes and to construct a linear regression equation. Not every online service for maps creation provides such an opportunity. In OpenWebGIS you can do it. In this article, we'll start talking about how you can do it yourself in your service using JavaScript language. Please read more about it: http://openwebgisystem.blogspot.ru/2015/08/maps-hurricanes-and-linear-regression.html
  4. Geolocating position of other person or object in OpenWebGIS. New opportunities for geolocation in OpenWebGIS now allow you to track the location of other people and objects. To do this on the computer (mobile device) of another person or object there must be a running browser (Google Chrome, FireFox and etc) with OpenWebGIS and the option "save location" must be activated Then the alphanumeric identifier of geolocation received automatically by them will be transferred to you. Put this identifier in the text box under the name “insert id of geolocation”, and then click “start” to monitor the position of another object. In OpenWebGIS you can simultaneously track the location of multiple objects. In the same way, you can use the obtained “id” for playback of recorded positions and tracks at any time convenient to you. Please read more information about it: http://openwebgis.livejournal.com/11138.html More information about Geolocate your own position in OpenWebGIS read here: http://openwebgis.livejournal.com/10947.html Figure 1.
  5. New and old interface of OpenWebGIS Recently OpenWebGIS interface has changed a bit. To understand what changes have occurred in the interface, please read: http://openwebgis.livejournal.com/9902.html
  6. Hello everyone! New opportunities of OpenWebGIS International Space Station: Track creating and Positions in 2D and 3D using OpenWebGIS OpenWebGIS: Track and Positions (by minutes) of International Space Station in 2D and 3D from 2014-12-20T01:00:00 to 2014-12-20T20:00:00 (UTC/GMT date in a format according to ISO8601). Read more: http://openwebgis.livejournal.com/5751.html about Creating 3D track of International Space Station with the help of OpenWebGIS. You can read about the module “Satellite Tracking” in more details here http://openwebgis.livejournal.com/3792.html Detailed video about Track creating and Positions in 2D and 3D using OpenWebGIS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=U-v4-bm28jI
  7. The project OpenWebGIS continues developing! You can download html files with javascript code. There is the example usage of OpenWebGIS: Look at the interactive map of Ebola virus outbreaks 1976-2014: http://opengis.dlinkddns.com/gis/opengis_eng.html?openwebgis=SzWveWa8q8Q4x04dZxuCONIF For mor information: http://openwebgis.livejournal.com/2060.html Animation of Situation map of Ebola virus outbreaks 1976-2014: The map is created in OpenWebGIS and based on the data of the World Health Organization, Wikipedia and world massmedia. The map contains the data until October 14. The information on the map is presented as a vector layer and you can export the data to other GIS formats - gml, geojson, csv, kml.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfM8uKEfSyM Animation with the help of OpenWebGIS http://opengis.dlinkddns.com/ of Historical North Atlantic Hurricane Tracks 1851-2004. OpenWebGIS is open and free online geographical information system. See interactive map http://opengis.dlinkddns.com/gis/opengis_eng.html?openwebgis=U5lkC4x9ziTcbotw9k6roZbt4Fm6qbFb7Rmy. 1. Select the name of layer Hurricanes1851-2004 in /Editable Layer/ drop-down list, 2. Click on menu item /View/-> /Time Line/, 3. In opened popup window select the field with date – DATEYEAR, 4. You can move this window if you select menu item /Interface/-> /Switch to interface drag/, 5. Specify suitable for you parameters of animation and press the play button , 6. Next to each segment of the track the wind speed WIND_MPH is labeled, 7. You can change the legend of the layer if you click on a word legend under the layer name in the list on the left of the map and then click on the drop-down list. Information of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Tropical Prediction Center/National Hurricane Center. Online_Linkage: http://nationalatlas.gov/atlasftp.html Shapefile was downloaded from http://www.mapcruzin.com/ For more comfortable work in OpenWebGIS in the attributive table the columns link1, link2 и dateyear, date were added with the dates in the standard format ISO 8601. For more information on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale, please see: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutsshs.shtml For more information on tropical cyclone advisories, please see: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/HAW2/english/forecast/forecast_products.shtml. The detailed video about track of Hurricane_Katrina in august 2005 you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfM8uKEfSyM
  9. Hi everyone! From now on all the news about the development of the OpenWebGIS project will be here: https://www.facebook.com/openwebgis. There are many news. Please join!
  10. The new function has been added to the OpenWebGIS. This is weather and weather forecast according to selected coordinates. Please help to find resources, sites with open and free (GPL,ODbL licenses) weather information it is desirable with historical Retrospective (WMS layers, databases online with API and etc) in order to improve and enhance work with weather information.
  11. I`ve added in OpenWebGIS the routing function recently. I would like you to test it. It was done by means of integrating http://project-osrm.org/ in OpenWebGIS. To use the function, press the button with the queston mark in the top right hand map corner. Whole route with detailed information can be exported to kml and gml format.
  12. Please watch video In this video GIS - geographic information system interface of http://opengis.dlinkddns.com OpenWebGIS system is shown in brief, as well as the result of one of its functions work called Time Line. You see the animation of Hurricane_Katrina http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Katrina movement in august 2005. The data is taken in the form of csv from the site http://cs.furman.edu/~pbatchelor/csc105/assignments/Mapping%20Labs/HurricanesBeerMoney.html The hurricane photos from the satellite were taken from here: www.tropicalweather.net,www.nola.com,discoverhistorictravel.com In the video the hurricane movement is shown by days. There are 4 location marks and wind speed marks -Wd_sp for every 24 hours. The hurricane rotation speed is changing in percents from absolute speed maximum. Please support the project OpenWebGIS: open and free GIS online for all of us
  13. Yes, you're right. There is no Installer and in the near future there will not be. In the description, I mean that the project is done entirely in opensource software and the code in html pages can be viewed and copied freely the code is read and understood (no obfuscated). Next time I will be more precise in the description.
